NCSC Executive Committee Election, AGM and New Year Celebration
 
Dear NCSC Members,
 
As per the Bylaws of the Nepalese Community Society of Calgary (NCSC), the Executive Committee (EC) of the Nepalese Community Society of Calgary (NCSC) has appointed Board of Directors Ram Marahatta as the Chief Election Officer and Ms. Bibhu Ojha Kattel as Election Officer to conduct election for the new NCSC Executive Committee.
 
Please consider this as the notice of election from the Election Committee for the election to be held on April 09, 2016 for the following positions of the Executive Committee:
 
 
President – 1
Vice President – 1
Secretary - 1
Treasurer - 1
Event Coordinator – 1
Joint Secretary - 1
Executive Members – 5
 
The term of the Executive Committee will generally be two years (2016 to 2018).
 
As previously announced by the current Executive Committee, the election will be held on the same day and on the same venue of the scheduled Annual General Meeting (AGM) or General Assembly (GA) 2016 as follows:
 
Date: Saturday April 09, 2016
Election process:  Starts at 3.00 pm (see below for details)
Venue:  Falconridge/Castleridge Community Association
95 Falshire Dr. N.E , Calgary AB T3J 1P7
 
The general election process will be as follows:
  1. Voters list publication: 3:00 pm (NCSC  member list provided by the Executive Committee prior to this notice);
  2. Each nomination and endorsement by at least one member of each candidate: by 3:30 pm, submitted in person to the Election Committee;
  3. Publication of the candidate list: 3:40 pm;
  4. Withdrawal of nomination or endorsement: 3:45 pm to 4:00 pm;
  5. Publication of Final Candidate List: 4:00 pm;
  6. Voting of the contested positions: 4:15 pm to 4:45 pm
  7. Results of Voting announcement: 5:00 pm  
  8. Nomination by the General Assembly: can appoint any member for the uncontested positions after publication of the candidate list (after 3:40 pm)
Depending on the progress of the concurrent General Assembly, the Election Committee may provide delayed time schedule to complete the election process.

Following excerpts from the NCSC Bylaws (2003) are provided for your reference:
 
1.3. Valid membership is always required of any individual who want to take part or position in any of the governing bodies of NCSC.
1.9 Members have the right to attend the annual General Assembly meeting.
2.2.5.   One-third of the total voting members shall be sufficient as the quorum for the General Assembly (GA);
2.2.6.   One voting member will be eligible for only one vote in the GA, Voting can only be done in person;
2.2.7. b. The term of the Executive Committee shall normally be two years. GA can make any decisions on whether to elect, nominate or call back any or all members of the Executive Committee;
3.1 The Executive Committee (EC) is the governing and decision making body that works in conjunction with the Board of Directors to run all the activities of the NCSC. The EC shall have full control over the affairs of the society. The EC shall comprise of the President, the Vice President, the Secretary, the Events Coordinator, the Treasurer, the Joint Secretary and five Executive Members.
4.2.5:   The BOD shall be responsible for the elections including the General Assembly, Procedural Details of the elections including the Date, venue, methods etc will be worked out by BOD itself, which shall be published at least 15 days prior to the date of  election.
