Nepali Mela and Multicultural Showcasing (NMMS) Event Calgary 2026
With a slogan of “Our Culture, Our Identity, and Our Pride: Let’s Embrace together”, NCSC, in partnership with Nepalese organizations in Calgary and in collaboration with other ethnocultural communities, hosts a one-day Nepali Mela and Multicultural Showcasing (NMMS) event on the third Saturday of July each year. The key goal of the event is to showcase Nepali culture, arts and crafts, cuisine, and talents to a wider public in Calgary and the area. The event helps increase visibility of Nepalese in Calgary and demonstrates their caliber and volunteerism whenever required. On top of this, the event provides local entrepreneurs with an opportunity to promote their products, offer their services, and advertise their businesses to a wider audience beyond the Nepali diaspora. We also take the lead in fostering multiculturalism by inviting other ethnic communities in Calgary to showcase their cultures and heritage and to help foster intergenerational and intercultural learning.
Objectives
– Showcase and promote Nepali culture and heritage in Calgary
– Strengthen the presence of the Nepali community and its culture and heritage in Alberta
– Foster multiculturalism by providing a common platform to the ethnocultural communities to share and learn from each other
