Established in 2015, Nepali Pathshala is a community-based heritage language program dedicated to preserving the Nepali language, culture, traditions, and values among younger generations living in Calgary.

From a small group of students and volunteers, the Pathshala has grown into a vibrant learning community of more than 160 students from Kindergarten to Grade 11, supported by dedicated teachers, volunteers, parents, and community members.

Our Purpose

Nepali Pathshala goes beyond language learning. We provide children and youth with opportunities to:

• Develop their Nepali language skills
• Learn about Nepali culture, traditions, festivals, and values
• Build a strong sense of identity and belonging
• Develop confidence, cooperation, and leadership skills
• Connect with their heritage while growing up in Canada’s multicultural society

Our goal is to help young people become confident and culturally connected individuals who can proudly carry their heritage into the future.

Our Learning Community

Students are organized into six groups named after the majestic mountains of Nepal:

Saipal | Annapurna | Dhaulagiri | Makalu | Kangchenjunga | Sagarmatha

Through language classes, cultural activities, celebrations, projects, and community engagement, students learn, connect, collaborate, and grow together.

Our People

Nepali Pathshala is built on the collective efforts of our teachers, volunteers, students, parents, NCSC Executive members, Board of Directors, and the wider Nepalese community.

We are currently supported by six educators, including the Principal, and ten active volunteers, who work together to create a welcoming and engaging learning environment for our students.

Classes & Registration

Nepali Pathshala follows an academic year from September to June.
