Celebrating Activism and Visioning through Artistic Systems Shift (CANVASS)

CANVASS Project

CANVASS
The “Celebrating Activism and Visioning through Artistic Systems Shift” (CANVASS) project of ActionDignity and Nepalese Community Society of Calgary aims to highlight the stories of Nepalese women, encompassing their culture, challenges, aspirations, and successes. This they do around the ‘Chai (tea) ceremony, a traditional practice in Nepalese communities, which creates a safe space for storytelling to be vulnerable and strong, at the same time. Their stories will be conveyed via visual arts, dance, song, henna painting, and videos for broad social media sharing. In addition to fostering connections and well-being, these stories will influence Calgary's Nepalese community and ActionDignity's equity initiatives and systems change. This will be implemented for a period of 1 year starting November 2023.
