Social Inclusion Support
Funded by the New Horizon for Seniors, Government of Canada, the Social Inclusion Supports for Immigrant Elders (SISIE) aims at addressing the key challenges of diverse groups of seniors (low-income, those with underlying health/mobility conditions, those impacted by COVID-19, and seniors willing to volunteer) through a support program that helps them integrate into the community, feel them valued, provide them awareness about different programs/services and helps them distress mentally and emotionally. Key activities include group programs with an educational or training component such as digital literacy, expert interactions and awareness sessions, intergenerational learning programs such as storytelling involving key seniors along with youth and adults, volunteer opportunities such as encouraging seniors to take a lead role in cultural events and targeted social or support activities such as low-income pass and one on one interaction/counseling which will be tailored to participant health and activity limitations.
